The Danbo Brothers: Sunny Side Up

Waking Up Happy

The Danbo Brothers lead a busy and adventurous life and it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen them. I know they love the woods in fall and, as we’ve had an unusually long, warm autumn here, I believe their prolonged absence probably had to do with them taking many a long stroll in the woods to enjoy the splendour of the autumn foliage.

More often than not, if I run into them at all, it seems we most often rendezvous in the kitchen first thing in the morning—so I’m never quite sure what might await me there (which is always rather fun). And no matter how early in the morning it is, I can always count on these guys to be in a happy mood.

This morning, I heard a faint cracking sound as I rounded the corner, heading to the kitchen to put the coffee on. And there I happily came upon the Danbo Brothers in the midst of preparing themselves a hearty breakfast. The boys recently discovered that they love sunny side up eggs. Being of such small stature deters them from nothing and they had no difficulty at all figuring out the best way to crack eggs into one of my frying pans. Big Danbo took on the role of Project Foreman, putting a stainless steel egg poacher (which I had completely forgotten that I had) to good use as a helmet. For Little Danbo, as always, it was nothing but fun and games…

They invited me to join them for breakfast, which I happily accepted and thoroughly enjoyed. I have no idea where they learned how to cook such perfect eggs, but they were delicious. As always, the Danbos are full of delightful surprises. What a fun way to start the day—sunny side up with the Danbo Brothers.

    • These guys have proven to me time and time again how clever they are. I think being vertically challenged brings out their creative problem solving skills. The Danbo Brothers wish you a great week ahead! :))

  1. They are are friendly these little guys there to prepare lunch.
    I love the Danbo Brothers.
I wish you a beautiful week Jeannie.

  2. Ha, ha ~ what a great way to wake up, a little Danbo Bros., making you breakfast :-) A perfect way to start a day – and gotta love the creativity with you ~ Wish you well Jeannie!

  3. Love those Danbos, Jeannie! So cute and such a sweet story. I also wanted to answer your question about my fairy drawing: The medium I use is ink and watercolor. I first sketch the fairy in pencil on watercolor paper, then ink it in using tiny dots – a technique known as “stippling”. After that, I apply the watercolor, and then do all the final shading in ink dots. it sounds involved, but I’ve been doing it for so long that I’m really fast at it!
I do have another wordpress site featuring my art if you’d like to see more: http://lisamarina.wordpress.com
Just click the links at the top of the page to see my art and some commissions I’ve had.
I hardly ever go to the site, so its outdated, but all my fairies are there.
    Have a great week!

    • Hello Lis! Thanks so for explaining your process—it sounds like fun. I think it’s something I’d enjoy. I love the result. And thanks for the link to your art website–I look forward to checking it out. :))
